the past two days of celebration have been good.
started off with dinner @ fish and co with the OG. thankew tyra for being party planner. treated me to dinner and gave me a fabulous bdae card. its sooooo pretty. has a picture of my beloved other half on it. dang it wasnt life-sized. but nevertheless i'd have her by my bedframe every night. the 4 m1s gave me a Levi's shirt because MR. CHAN HIOK HONG thinks the words on my shirts are crappy. how very mean. sobs.
but it was definitely a night of great fun. and ochi harumi looks like wang nan in her i.c. photo. HAHAHAHA. and if we dont become doctors, we can go Fish n Co to work as their waiters cos we know how to do their birthday rap already. heard it like gazillion times that night.
on my birthday, i went to school (late) and was wished happy birthday by a few of my classmates. including tyra and jeslyn who both sang me a birthday song. then Sombala was very very nice and gave me a chocolate cake! and sang me a birthday song. suhairi sang the bdae song in chinese (WOW) and jiayan sang me a birthday song by herself also. okay i dont have fetish for birthday songs okay. but it just so happened that they all sang me birthday songs individually.
lunch was at NYDC with charissa and gang. 1-for-1 set lunch. and charissa treated me. yay. ate some spaghetti which reminded me of the lecture on microbiology the day before.
Caution: Scroll down at your own risk.
ASCARIS LUMBRICOIDES (things that you shouldnt be having inside you)

quickly scuttled home and got changed for dinner @ Hanabi with rui and wei. hohoho. there was so much food. and i amazed them with my eating prowess. they stopped and i continued. the 10298132 plates of salmon sushi and jap food made me a very happy boi. =D i just ate and ate nonstop. and couldnt stop until my stomach really felt like a ball of uhh, food? super hard also. AND THE AUNTY WHO DROVE THE BUS SUCKED SHIT. SHE KEPT STOPPING AND MOVING UNTIL I NEARLY PUKED AFTER I GOT OFF THE BUS. but other than that, that night was eventful. thanks, cos i know the two of you guys dont really like jap food.
yesterday was a whole boring day of lectures. the first time since school started when i actually REACHED school at 830 before the lecturer started droning. so proud of myself. and the most interesting thing was pathology tutorial. our tutor would make us guess a clinical condition by giving us clues. he gave us this one:
1. Stimulation by a constant factor
2. Increase in size of organ
3. Hot
4. Excitable
5. LOW
AHHAHAA. so we were like -.- what the hell is the tutor trying to make us say man. we had to clarify LOW. like what, anatomically LOW? then he said, nonono, LOW = Loss of weight. then we were like ORHHHHH. turns out it was hyperthyroidism lah. and if all you non-medical students out there got another answer... well, good try. cos i probably know what you think it was. AHHA.
and innocent jiayi was learning about the sun and the soap. =p
okay study time.

ping pong. the sport of double happiness tables, red and black bats, butterfly balls and China women. okay, give some credit to the koreans who arent too bad at it (and they actually LOOK korean, not chinese, so its amazing) and the occasional angmoh, fine i lie, no angmohs in this asian game cos probably caucasians dont have the PING gene coding for the PONG protein..
this womens finals has been an interesting match to watch, though it kinda got boring at the end. the Chinese team was technically superior and we put up a good effort, and eventually lost to a better team. a few proud moments though, we won the first game of every singles match. and trust me it was always a nailbiting close fight, especially the first one by Feng TW. i think she actually looks cute. HAHA.
then again on hindsight, it might have just been China's tactic to observe their opponents. they kinda treated the first game like a warmup, testing shots and watching our reactions. eventually they'd step up the game and take the next 3 to secure the match. just like how they'd lag half a body length in women's butterfly and still manage to oust the first in the heats.
the korean match was actually more fun to watch. the teams were more evenly pitched. and it was a much closer fight, especially with all that kimchi chopping, my eyes were GLUED to the screen. this finals match was faster paced and the ball was literally dancing under the bats of both teams. AND i always cringed when they kinda hit it too hard and it never touched the table.
i personally feel that the commentator was kinda harsh towards Feng TW in her opening match. he was inherently biased towards the Chinese team so it wasnt exactly very pleasing to the ears. i probably begged to differ on some of the points he raised in the first match.
one of the funnier things that happened was when Wang Yue Gu starting hunting for the elusive orange pingpong ball. he was obviously sniggering at her. and yes i was too. she was like crossing hurdles to find that lost sheep and she isnt exactly thin. the camera showed her thighs. but dont belittle them kay. they still had that BURST in the doubles she played. amazing stuff.
and just a random passing thought, Zhang Yi Ning and Jeslyn look abit alike. Guo Yue and Feng TW both look butchy. summore Guo Yue "plays like a man" lol.
so, in the end we didnt win. not that i was expecting a gold medal, but its only human nature to be a little greedy no? for the first time i think i saw distress on the face of a Chinese table tennis player's face. Oh well.
My favourite players of the year:
3rd place - Wang Nan (CHN) the Dragonfruit Seller Aunty
"Boy ah! Dragonfruit 6 for 88yuan only! BUYBUYBUY!"

.
.
.
.
.
2nd place - Kim Kyung Ah (KOR) the Kimchi Chopper
"Kimchi is good for you! HA! Take that!"

.
.
.
.
.
1st place - Wang Yue Gu (SIN) the Gugu!
"Guo errrrr...." - while she plays Guo Yue (CHN) lol

kk thats all for my Olympic updates. gotta muggggg now! =D

AH. tuition tomorrow in the morning. and quite alot of stuff to revise. TIME TO START WORKING HARD REUBEN! oh, i kinda like pathology. it's the most interesting of the lot so far and COFM is absolutely faecal matter. SERIOUSLY, i dont know how to study. can someone tell me pls?!
gotta wake up early since these few days i've been oversleeping and skipping lectures. not a good way to start the day. =/ esp when COFM lectures are at the start. ARGHARGHARGAHRGAHR. sat tuition, sun tuition. its kinda heavy. hopefully i'll have time to revise and enjoy my weekends.
birthday's coming in 6days. heehoo. who wants to celebrate with me? lol.
oh and good job to the singaporean tabletennis team. Feng TW roxxors. she's good at the attacks but i must say the koreans are very strong mentally. they put up a real good fight and a heart-stopping defense with her butterfly stances. especially Park Mi Young. her kimchi chopping skills are fabulous, really. like
OMG. you have to SEE it to BELIEVE it.
funniest thing was the referee gave two red cards.. first one to GUGU (from the condor heroes) of Singapore. and the other was to Li Jia Wei's opponent in the singles. why ah? someone said that cos they were scolding vulgarities at the opponent. but they were chinese and korean and the judge was like black? how to understand?! maybe sideline coaching...
and the singaporean table tennis coach roxxors. i bet he just gave Feng TW three words. "sha1 diao4 ta1" and her attacking form came up.
Li Jia Wei was quite a disappointment with her strokes. abit overrated and its her last Olympics already. poor girl.
also watched the all-round female gymnastics. IT WAS FANTASTIC. except i kinda pitied the China girl who got bronze. for the first time i thought how it must have felt for her to get the bronze despite putting up such a good performance. but the other two competitors, Nastia Lukin and Shawn Johnson were just too good for her. so they deserved to get their medals.
OLYMPICS actually quite the very exciting. okay, not really, only when singapore playing then i cheer like sai. i will watch the Olympics table tennis finals k. PLEASE DO SINGAPORE PROUD. the asshole commentator said we break our 48 year record of not getting medal. machiam longer than our independence. how very sad. but NOW, we got at least silver. ganbatte!
had dinner at Crystal Jade holland V. followed charissa and gang for a farewell dinner to send Ying off cos she's flying away to Michigan on tuesday. it was a steamboat buffet with FREE FLOW XIAOLONGBAOS. okay. ate alot alot. feel like a ball now. plus afternoon ate a mountainload of rice + veg + meat. my bid to grow fat is working. please please let me grow fat. thanks.
and the food was okay lah, but we wasted alot. and the aunty was HILARIOUS. the gas burner went off, then i was kinda apologetic cos i turned the gas down too much. so i asked her for help. and she came along... turned the kob... and when there was a little click sound when the flame lit up, she purposely act cute and SQUEAL. hoping that i'd be scared. VERY LAME RITE. her very lame attempts at flirting. lol.
then i said i'd smack her butt and say "tao3 yan4". they dare me to do it. $2 from ying. HAHAHA.
even funnier the other aunty who was manning the counter. she was talking very loudly into the walkie talkie and we overheard. it went something like this:
"tell them that they can let the 4th person sit there. but he cannot eat. make sure you all keep your eyes on him and he doesnt eat. if he goes near any of the buffet items and you see his mouth move, make them pay the $18. MAKE SURE HE DOESNT GO CLOSE."
then i laughed very loud and said she was very funny.
okay end of day. shower and sleep. ZONKS.

MicroB today was on nose swabbing. yes you heard me right. so gross. two days ago it was cheek swabbing to get some cheek cells for PCR. today, we're swabbing our noses so that we can gather some friendly microorganisms living in the deep hairy recess of my nose and culture them to see their little colonies on monday. and they're surviving on blood agar. so sick.

after that went down to a costume shop to choose my costume for DnD. having settled the table theme, we happily went to choose our costumes. not gonna tell you what we're gonna be, but very kinky. stay tuned to the 30aug post to see what REUBEN has dressed up as. ahhaa.
some slut photos to enjoy. hehe

oh and i'm very sad mr. hiroyuki tomita didnt win at the men's gymnastics all round. =( booo! i dont like china.

so, school's begun. like finally, after much anticipation over the past week. we're back into the mundaneness of school life. the 8-5 life ALL OVER AGAIN!
Rag was kinda fun. with all the hype leading up to the event. okay the construction bit wasnt fun. but the stayover + talk cock session throughout the night was actually fun. lazing under the stars just talking nonsense with shaunnie, haotian, abhi, liheng and quan you. not the usual medicine ppl i'd hang out with, but it was fun.
the MOST fun was doing makeup. i singlehandedly facepainted all the dark forces top-left hand corner emblem. the best thing being that the paint brushes used to paint their faces were the same ones used to paint rag. like literally paint. aka paint wall paint. there was still solidified paint on the brush. HAHA. but impt places like mouth i used cotton bud lah. so kind rite.
ok. photos next time. :) ppl havent sent me. argh.
jap exchange programme after Rag. twas real fun bringing the jap peepz around. they were really friendly and gave me a chance to use that language which i have not used for a very long time. brought them to sentosa. THEY ARE VERY FASCINATED BY THE MERLION!! amazingly. then one of them even asked me whether they would be able to see the laser beams. i was like HAHA no. cos its in the day. laser beams only at night!
oh and jap ppl like chicken rice, roti prata, kaya and bahkwa. yea. very weird rite. ahahah, i thought so too..
they left on tuesday. abit of a short trip cos they're still heading to Bangkok to study infectious diseases such as Malaria and Dengue.

so school started today. and cos i was so blardy tired. i couldnt wake up on time. i pressed down the alarm after it rang at 7am. slept and my mum woke me up at 730am. she asked me why i didnt go school. i mumbled some nonsense and went back to dreamland. after which SHE also fell asleep so got nobody to wake me up. i finally climbed out of bed at 9am and reached school at 1030am.
kinda missed the first 2 lectures. one was useful the other useless. and i got scolded by the lecturer. geez. for talking. because apoptosis = classical greek for dropping off. and i pointed to Ben Liang's -ahem- and said
"APOPTOSIZE!" and i laughed very loud. =X so paiseh.
okay must revise work now. sleeping @ 11pm. ciao!
take it up and put it down.

making decisions are part and parcel of the life we lead. big ones, small ones, fat ones, thin ones, and even mundane ones like whether you wanna pon lecture cos you're so tired from mugging the last night, it's almost like choosing a wife sans the pleasure of sex. why? because i think having to make choices short circuits my neurons and throws me into a state of confusion. clear cut choices are fine. not the icky ones that run really close to each other and those that make me choose between my palm and the back of my hand.
i recently did an online MBTI assessment. for the uninitiated, its an personality type profiling thingum that tells you what kind of person you are. at the end of the test, it'll generate a 4letter code, each letter meaning something (obviously). btw those interested can visit:
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp so anyway, the scale for decision making has two ends: the F for Feeling end and the T for Thinking end. obviously you can only be at one end of the scale. i kope this from wikipedia cos its so much more eloquently expressed.
"Those who prefer Feeling tend to come to decisions by associating or empathizing with the situation, looking at it 'from the inside' and weighing the situation to achieve, on balance, the greatest harmony, consensus and fit, considering the needs of the people involved. Those who prefer Thinking tend to decide things from a more detached standpoint, measuring the decision by what seems reasonable, logical, causal, consistent and matching a given set of rules."
and i happen to score very strongly on the Feeling side. which really kinda makes life hell for me when i make decisions involving people. things like "then him how?" will always pop up. but it will be silenced because i just cannot answer it.
recently two people came up to me with different questions.
Scenario A:
a girl likes this guy, but she doesnt know if he still likes her. she asks him whether he likes her. but he does not answer her directly and tends to avoid her question. is it because he doesnt like her anymore but doesnt have the heart to tell her for fear of losing the friendship between them? or is it because he still likes her, but doesnt know if he's ready to get back with her.
Scenario B:
a girl is in a dilemma on whether she should be going for a wedding ceremony. on one hand she wants to congratulate the groom for being able to move on. but on the other hand she has to keep in mind the feelings of her mum. because the groom happens to be her dad. so should she go for the wedding or not?
so sticky rite. the two situations. haiz. i also wouldnt know what to do. oh well when school starts, dont think life will be so difficult. just mug rite?? haha. afterall in medicine, who mugs wins. =D

last night's party @ Ben's was a BANG. a BIG BANG. not a gang bang, just a BIG BANG okay.. arrived after dinner at Adam's Rd Food Centre. and i must say i was SOOOO blardy heng. the moment i stepped out of the place after eating big prawn mee, our favourite man-in-white was walking around the carpark issuing SUMMONS. these little pieces of paper on your windscreen strikes great fear in the hearts of drivers who park without putting parking coupons, aka yours truly (partly cos i've never learnt how to tear them) haha.
so very the heng. he was walking on the other side of the road issuing summons to the cars on the other side. then i told korkor
"WAH SUPER HENG". and quickly drove off to Ben's. plus his house ah,
SUPER FAR IN. and i had to navigate through all the dark and windy roads in between Holland V and Bukit Timah. okay i lie. clever me checked out the street directory beforehand and took the simplest route in, all the way STRAIGHT along coronation road...(so no windy road but it was really dark and plus got chinese cemetery. didnt help that last night was the beginning of something. dunno what. kept seeing ppl burning stuff. erpz.)
the party wasnt very happening until more people came along. the funniest thing was when ONE VERY SILLY GIRL from our OG (shall not say who) ahahha went up to Ben's sister's friend and said "Hi Aunty!" and the sister was OUR AGE. twenty. AHAHA. wonderful right. wonder how she got into medicine.
played poker as per normal (whats new), and a bit of the drumming/singing/guitar game. i formed a new band last night. i was Kyle the drummer. tyra was Mikhayler. (sheesh can pronounce it but cannot spell) the lead singer and jeslyn was Lollita the guitarist. together we were
KML. okay haha inside joke.
the party only got livelier after people left. SO IRONIC. some had church camp, some had something on tmr, etc etc. so they all left. AND WE DIDNT GET TO PLAY OUR 7 MINUTES IN A CLOSET. sad. but after that we played poker. roughly 7 of us. and everytime we lost $5million in poker chips, we had to drink a shot of vodka. and we finished Ben's bottle of Belvedere Vodka which he liked alot. i didnt drink much since i didnt really lose.. =D
then after poker they moved on to the rockband game again. only 3 ppl could play so i decided to play cai quan with hiok and ochi. heh. after much training. i realised im not bad at it. penalty was 1/4 of a shot. now that Belvedere was out, we could only resort to coconut rum which was sweeter and stickier and only 20% by volume alcohol. decided that the rum was no kick. so tyra brought out a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka. anw these two Vodka's are supposed to be good quality stuff. and very potent.
the grey goose one was the final straw. after which i was very very woozy. but i remembered i still won hiok @ cai quan quite alot. HAHAHA. =p by then the two of us were going siao already. faces red and totally gone-look. i still remember him saying that if i drank 1/2 a shot he'd drink one. and they repeatedly hit me with pillows. i was like just sludging around the floor dunno doing what. ben also hero, drink Absolut mango straight from the bottle. after which he disappeared upstairs. probably dead drunk. HAHAHAHA.
through my woozy glazed eyes i saw things though. and rumours which i believe can be confirmed.. jiayou! =D

take it up and put it down.
